NEWSHushpuppi: You arrested Kanu, Igboho, respect international law on Abba Kyari – Moghalu tells BuhariPublished on July 30, 2021By Don SilasProf. Kingsley Moghalu, a former presidential candidate of the Young Progressive Party (YPP), has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to respect international law on the issue involving the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari regarding his link to international fraudster, Ramon Abbas, also known as Hushpuppi.DAILY POST reported earlier that Otis Wright of the U.S District Court for the Central District of California had told the FBI to track down Kyari and produce him before the court over his alleged role in a multi-million dollar fraud perpetrated by Hushpuppi, a notorious Nigerian fraudster.As widely reported in Nigeria and beyond, Hushpuppi was arrested in Dubai over a year ago and pleaded guilty to fraud in the U.S earlier this week. The FBI said Hushpuppi and Kyari have been friends and were both involved in a conspiracy to launder money.The deputy commissioner of police was also indicted of receiving bribes from Hushpuppi to arrest a member of the syndicate in Nigeria.Judge Wright’s permission for the FBI to arrest Mr Kyari and hold him in U.S custody was unsealed on July 26.However, Kyari had in a statement on Thursday denied allegations of conspiracy with Hushpuppi, saying he only met him two years ago and did not benefit financially from the fraudster.Reacting to the news, Moghalu believes that since the Federal Government under Buhari has arrested Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and are also seeking to extradite Yoruba Nation Agitator, Sunday Igboho, from Benin Republic, the president should follow due process on Kyari.He insisted that the FBI’s request for the extradition of Kyari in the Hushpuppi case will put Buhari and Nigeria in the global spotlight.The former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank, CBN, wrote on Twitter on Friday, “President @MBuhari has frequently opted for subjective loyalties over real political will on national security and fighting corruption. The U.S. @FBI request for the extradition of the accused police chief, Abba Kyari in the Hushpuppi case will put him and Nigeria in the global spotlight.“It’s one thing to go to great lengths in seeking to extradite Sunday Igboho from Benin Republic and the apparent extraordinary rendition of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from God-knows-where. It’s another to respect international law in black and white when it comes to certain Nigerians.“Nigeria and the United States have an extradition treaty and it has been used in a number of cases. Is this a bone in the throat? What leadership calls for is obvious. President Buhari should respect laws and follow due process. We are watching.

He said: “What appears to be the most apparent is the lack of efficient intelligence system or lack of will to utilize the provided intelligence in carrying out security operations by the military and para-military agencies, as all security stakeholders appear to be compromised by the insurgents in the Northeast as well as bandits/kidnappers in the Northwest and North Central.

He is in my cell now. This is his picture after we arrested him today.”After receiving the photograph of Vincent/Chibuzor, Abbas (Hushpuppi) said, “I want him to go through serious beating of his life.”In response to Kyari’s question about what Chibuzor had done to Abbas (Hushpuppi), Abbas sent Kyari an audio message.He said: “What he did is, I have one job. The job want to pay me 500, umm, 75,000 dollars [i.e., $575,000]. He went to message the job behind me because I told him to help me make one document for me to give the job. Then he went—he has a—I gave him the details.“Then he went to message the job behind my back and try to divert the money and in this process, he tell the job because of the documents he gave me that I gave the job, he tells the job, ‘These document they sent to you before. The United States District Court for the Central District of California has indicted Commander of Force Intelligence Response Team, DCP Abba Kyari in the ongoing prosecution of famous Nigerian Instagram celebrity, Raymond Abass, popularly known as Hushpuppi.Consequently, US District Judge, ,Honorable O. Otis, has issued a warrant of arrest on Kyari and five others, to appear before it in the ongoing matter.Kyari, however, dismissed the allegation on his Facebook page yesterday, saying he never collected money from Hushpuppi.Meanwhile, social media was awash also yesterday, with Nigerians reacting to the development which many described as a rude shockHushpuppi was arrested on June 10, 2020, in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, over multiple fraud charges, alongside 11 others, in an operation, tagged ‘Fox Hunt’.‘’The suspects were accused of committing crimes outside the UAE, including money-laundering, cyber fraud, hacking, criminal impersonation, scamming individuals, banking fraud and identity theft,” the Dubai Police said.Director of Dubai CID, Brigadier Jamal Salem Al Jallaf stated then, that the raid that led to Hushpuppi’s arrest resulted in the confiscation of incriminating documents of a planned fraud on a global scale worth AED 1.6 billion ($ 435 million).

The Department of State Services has barred The PUNCH and some media organisations from covering the trial of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, as his trial continues today.Also barred along with The PUNCH are The Guardian, Vanguard, Daily Trust, Tribune, Daily Sun, The Cable, and Daily Times, among others.The media organisations the DSS accredited are Daily Post, ThisDay, Premium Times, The Nation, Daily Independent, The Herald, National Television Authority, Television Continental, African Independent Television and Channels Television.The DSS did not give reasons for picking 10 media houses while barring others from covering the trial.A call to the DSS spokesman, Dr. Peter Afunnaya, rang out, while a text message sent to him on the action of the secret police had yet to be responded to as of the time of writing this report.However, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mike Ozekhome, who condemned the decision to prevent The PUNCH and other media organisations from covering the trial, said the position of the law was that every trial should be carried out in public and everyone entitled to watch the proceedings.He said, “Our legal system does not admit of secret trials. On Sunday the Popular Nigerian activist, Deji Adeyanju has kicked against the prohibition of the public to the trial of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB. Nigerian government on Sunday deployed operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) to the premises of the Federal High Court, Maitama in Abuja. This was after the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, warned IPOB members not to show up at the Court hearing on Monday.Also, those in various hotels in the area have been warned against moving in and out as hooded armed officers were seen stationed at the entrance of the Federal High Court with motorbikes and vehicles. Adeyanju, reacting on his Twitter page, said all members of the public should be able to attend the trial as the federal high court belongs to Nigerians not Malami or DSS.Describing Buhari as a tyrant, Adeyanju said Nigerians and the media were allowed to attend court proceedings even in the military era.His tweet read: “All members of the public can attend Nnamdi Kanu’s trial. His trial is not a secret trial. The Federal H/Court belongs to the people of Nigeria, not Malami or the DSS.“Even during the military, Nigerians and the media were allowed to attend court proceedings. Ohanaeze Ndigbo has cautioned members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, to be careful on how they go about creating enemies for Ndigbo and jeopardizing the Igbo relationships with their good neighbours. The Federal Government has approved the extension of the deadline for National Identity Number (NIN)-Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) data verification to October 31, 2021. The decision to extend the deadline was made following a request by stakeholders to accommodate registration in hard-to-reach remote areas, foreigners and diplomatic missions, diaspora and address low enrolments in schools and hospitals, as evidenced by enrolment statistics. The decision also followed a review of the progress of the exercise which indicated significant progress, hence the need to consolidate the gains of the enrolment and NIN-SIM verification process across the country.As at July 24, 2021, there are over 5,500 enrolment systems within and outside the country and this would significantly ease the NIN enrolment process and subsequent linkage of NIN to SIM.A statement signed by Kayode Adegoke, Head, Corporate Communications, National Identity Management Commission, reads “The administration of His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, has approved the extension as part of efforts to make it easier for its citizens within and outside the country, and legal residents to obtain the NIN and it is important to take advantage of the extension. “The NIN-SIM linkage also makes it easier for the security agencies to carry out their statutory duties and the relevant parastatals under the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy are supporting them as required. “There are now a total of 59.8 million unique NIN enrolments, with average of 3 to 4 SIMs per NIN. With the great number of enrolment centres within and outside the country, and many more coming up, every citizen, legal resident, and Nigerian citizens living in diaspora should be able to obtain their NINs. “The Honourable Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, PhD, FNCS, FBCS, FIIM, on behalf of the Federal Government, commends the Kano State government and other States that have made NINs a key requirement for school enrolments and access to other important services. “The Federal Government is also excited at the news that the use of NIN in the process of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) exam significantly reduced the challenge of exam malpractice. “The Minister, on behalf of the Federal Government, appreciates Nigerians for their patience and compliance with the Federal Government’s directive on the NIN-SIM registration exercise. “Similarly, the Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta, and the Director-General/CEO of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Engr. Aliyu Azeez, urge citizens and legal residents to make sure they use the opportunity to complete the process of enrolment and verification before the October 31 deadline.”

David Umahi popularly known as Dave Umahi was born 25 July 1964 at Uburu, Easter region,Nigerian now Uburu Ohaozara Ebonyi State Nigeria. Umahi entered public service in 2007 as the acting chairman of the Ebonyi State chapter of the People's Democratic Party.[6] From 2009 to 2011, he served as state chairman of the party. During that term, he served a year on the governing board of the Federal Medical Centre in Asaba as its chairman.[citation needed]In 2011, Umahi became deputy governor of Ebonyi State on a ticket with the-then Governor Martin Elechi.[6] However, in 2014, Governor Elechi supported Onyebuchi Chukwu, Minister of Health, as his successor, which Umahi stated violated an understanding that he would take that role.[7][8] Umahi went ahead to defeat Chukwu in the primaries.[9] The remainder of Elechi's term was chaotic, with arson hitting the House of Assembly in February 2015 and motions taken to impeach him later that month over alleged unconstitutional gross misconduct, misappropriation of funds and anti-party activities.[10][11][12] Umahi was elected to the role of Governor on 12 April 2015 in an election that has been challenged by the Labour Party, All Progressives Congress and All Progressives Grand Alliance on the basis of "widespread irregularities, killings, and wanton destruction of property".[13][14] In October 2015, the legitimacy of the election was upheld by the Governorship Election Tribunal.[15]On the 16th day of March, 2019, David Umahi was re-elected as Governor in the Ebonyi state governorship election. Defection to the APC Edit On November 11, 2020 Governor Dave Umahi declared his intention to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) and on 17 November 2020 he officially defected to the party after a long time speculation. Umahi made his declaration of joining the APC for reasons according to him, one of them being that "the People's Democratic Party (PDP) has been unfair to the Southeast Geopolitical Zone" and secondly, "that it has being hijacked by one or two individuals". He also doused the speculation against him that he joined the APC because he wanted a presidential ticket which wasn't promised to him in the PDP by saying that he would quit politics in 2023 after leaving office as governor.[17]President Muhammadu Buhari also congratulated Umahi for his defection to the APC, he described it as a bold step driven by principle rather than opportunistic moves or coercion[
